4 Bands That Should Get Back Together Immediately

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Framingham chapter.

Music is a wonderful thing to invest your time in, whether it is playing and performing or listening to various artists. Unfortunately, some of these artists decide they no longer want to pursue music together and the band breaks up. With the return of bands like Fall Out Boy and the *NSYNC reunion performance at the 2013 VMAs, there is some hope that at least one of the following bands will change their minds and get back together, or at least give their fans one last chance to see them on tour.

1.      My Chemical Romance

Emo kids everywhere were devastated when My Chemical Romance called it quits in March of 2013 through a surprise post on their blog. Their 12 year career included four studio albums and countless tours, which amassed a dedicated following that spanned the globe. They were wildly popular in the era of guy-liner and girl-jeans and frequented teen magazine covers and the TRL (remember TRL?) music video countdowns. Although their latest album was vastly different from their early efforts, there is no doubt that MCR would be welcomed back to the scene should they ever choose to reunite. Every former emo kid would love to see “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” performed live just once more.

2.      Jonas Brothers

I have not met a single person who does not know every single word to at least one Jonas Brothers song (but no, “Year 3000” does not count, it was originally by Busted.) The boys announced their split in October 2013 to the disappointment of thousands of fans who had already bought tickets to see them on the tour that was scheduled to begin that month, which was subsequently cancelled. When asked about their decision to disband, the boys claimed that there were creative differences within the band that were causing a rift between them. Breaking up may have helped their relationship as siblings, but it would have been nice if they could have worked it out and released that fifth album. For the sake of every girl who hung up J-14 and M magazine posters of them in their locker, I hope JB makes a comeback.

3.      Hey Monday

Cassadee Pope may finally have the immense amount of success that she deserves, but before she won season three of The Voice, she was the frontwoman of Florida pop-rock outfit Hey Monday. While Hey Monday claims to be on a hiatus and not broken up, it is unlikely that they will reunite in the near future considering Pope’s popularity in country music. But that does not mean that we have to stop dreaming for a reunion tour. Hey Monday’s high energy songs and live shows are what led them to success from 2008 to 2011, and I personally would love to be able to experience that energy again.

4.      One Direction

Technically One Direction is on a hiatus right now, but I meant that they should reunite with Zayn Malik. Malik announced his decision to leave the band on March 25, 2014 through a post on the band’s Facebook page, which broke the hearts of millions (myself included, as my friends will tell you I cried on their dorm room floor for an hour). The post explained that he wanted to “be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight,” which is understandable considering five years of his life were consumed by One Direction, but it does not mean it hurt fans any less. The remaining four members (Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson) have continued as a four-piece and finished their world tour that Malik decided not to complete, but any fan will tell you that they want Zayn back in the band. Horan, Payne, Styles, and Tomlinson are now on a hiatus of their own, with plans to return in 2017 (hopefully with Zayn in tow).
