Sierra Hollenbach, FCRH

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

Name: Sierra Hollenbach

Flava Name: My name doesn’t really make a good nickname. But some people call me Sierra Meadows (my middle name).

Major: Psychology and Pre-Med

Why she picked Fordham: I’ve been in love with New York City since I was young so naturally I wanted to go to a school in New York. I also wanted to go to a smaller school where I could get more focused attention from professors. Fordham fulfills both of these and I really love the campus.

Campus Involvement: Pre-Med is basically my life. The course load and studying doesn’t really allow for much free time. Plus Flava is a huge commitment. But I do have a job on campus as well. I sound super boring. (editor’s note: not true!)

Single or Taken: Single!

Who is your celebrity crush? Chris Hemsworth. Those arms. That accent. I mean he plays Thor, how much better could he get?

What’s one thing you don’t understand about the opposite sex? I don’t understand why some guys make situations so difficult and complex, when they really don’t have to be at all. Guys, just stop that please.

What she is looking for in a significant other: Someone I can be silly with, have a good conversation with, and most importantly someone who is determined and motivated and has goals.

Your dream guy/girl can’t dance. As a Flava member, is this a deal breaker or can you get over it? I think it’s less important whether they can or can’t dance, rather it’s important if they do dance. I don’t care if you have dance skills or not, but I appreciate a guy who is comfortable enough with himself to try, even if he makes a fool of himself.

What’s your hidden talent? Can eating be a talent? I’m really good at it. If not then I can play piano!

What’s your favorite thing about Flava (Fordham University’s only hip-hop team on campus)? My favorite thing about Flava is the family atmosphere. The dance world can be so competitive and catty, so it’s refreshing to be with a team that really is a team and feels like a family.  Everyone has been welcoming since day one and I always look forward to rehearsal.

The Flava showcase is April 12. What is the one thing you are most excited about with the showcase? Do you have a favorite dance? This will be my biggest performance in a really long time and I’m so excited to be doing the thing I love with people I love! I don’t want to spoil anything by saying what my favorite is, but let’s just say it’s very sexy.

If you could only dance to one song for the rest of your life what would it be? Anything Beyonce! Probably Drunk in Love at the moment, it’s just so much fun to dance to.

Life motto: “To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”

Flava’s 2014 dance showcase is on April 12th. Tickets go on sale April 7th.
