Tell us about your campus involvement:

I’m happy to be involved in various things on campus. I’m a member of ASILI’s e-board as Vice President. Additionally, I’m currently a pre-health mentor. I’m also a new member of C-STEP (Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program) and am part of the ARCC program, in which I tutor elementary and middle school students in the Bronx.

What is something you think all Rams should know about ASILI?

I feel that one of the biggest misconceptions about ASILI is that it’s a club solely for African and African-American students. We celebrate all cultures and welcome students from all backgrounds. While we do place an emphasis on the African&African-American experience, we value members of cultures from all around the world!

What’s your favorite thing about Fordham?

One of my favorite things about Fordham is its commitment to community service. I’ve had the privilege of participating in two Global Outreach trips, New Orleans and San Jose, which honestly changed my life. Though especially Global Outreach and Dorothy Day, I feel like Fordham makes a big effort to get students involved in giving back in a way that they haven’t before.

Least favorite?

My least favorite thing about Fordham is it’s diversity. **side eye** I hope I’m not the only one.

If you could have dinner with any 3 people (dead or alive), who would they be & why?

1) Beyonce. Everyone who knows me knows I love Beyonce. She’s been one of my biggest role models my whole life. Aside from her amazing talent and performance skills, she’s truly been a role model for black women around the world. Her pride for her African and African-American roots is so inspiring and makes people proud to be black.

2) Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie- Everyone might know her from Beyonce’s song, Flawless. She’s such an amazing author and feminist. I could literally listen to her talk for hours, not to mention she’s a fellow Nigerian!

3) Marie Curie- Not only did she represent strong, successful women in science, I honestly would love to have dinner with her to listen to her wild scientific intellect.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

‘Genie in a Bottle’ by Christina Aguilera.

Blue Goose or Howl?

Howl, much more space.

Pugsley’s or University?

University!

If you had one piece of advice for freshmen, what would it be?

My advice to freshman is honestly to enjoy yourself while you can. You only go to college once. This means know what you’re here for–to learn, but also have fun and be young. Keep an open mind to different ideas and people!

Christina is a member of the class of 2018 at Fordham University, pursuing a major in Communications and Media Studies. Some of her favorite things include Sex and the City re-runs, dogs and pretending Zayn is still a member of One Direction.
