Whether you know Harrison Pidgeon or whether you do not, he’ll probably smile and say hi to you. One of the friendliest people on campus, Harrison is also extremely involved. Aside from juggling several jobs and positions on campus, he makes sure he has time to dedicate to volunteering and helping others. Feeling sick? I bet he could help you with that too, considering his educational goals and valuable experience (scroll down to find out). This campus celebrity shows us what it really means to be part of the giving community here at Fordham!

Where are you from? Massachusetts

What year are you? Junior

What is your major? Biology and Spanish Studies

What activities are you involved in? I’m on FUEMS and am a senator for USG. I also am a Social Justice Leader for the Dorothy Day Center and am an Urban Plunge assistant. I work in the health center for my work study and I volunteer off campus.

How did you decide to come to Fordham? I only got into 3 of the schools I applied to and this had the best financial aid. Plus New York City is awesome.

Do you have any tips for students who are trying to balance schoolwork, extracurriculars, and other obligations like internships? Budget your time well in advance and use your down time efficiently.

What’s your favorite thing about New York? The fact that there’s always something new to learn or a new place to go. There are so many hidden, awesome things that you can just randomly find.

Do you have a favorite NYC memory? I went to a JayZ concert at Barclays last year. Needless to say it was unbelievable.

What’s on your NYC bucket list? Take a tour of Ellis Island.

Do you have a favorite Fordham memory? The day concerts on Saturday of spring weekend. Literally my favorite day of the year.

What’s your favorite class you’ve taken at Fordham? I’m taking Vocations of a Health Care Provider and so far it’s great.

What’s your least favorite class you’ve taken at Fordham? Organic chemistry. There’s nothing good about that class.

Where’s your favorite spot on campus? Keating steps.

If you could give one piece of advice to a Fordham collegiette, what would it be? Say yes to every opportunity you have here and get involved in the community inside and outside the gates.

What’s your dream job? Working in a hospital in Latin America.

What do you think the best part of a Jesuit education is? The whole “men and women for others” motto. We’re so privileged to be able to go here so we should always remember to give back to others.

Who is your favorite professor at Fordham? Varuni Jamboruthagoda. (It’s said exactly as it’s spelled). She teaches biology and is awesome.

What’s one thing everyone would be surprised to learn about you? This summer I walked from Fordham to Times Square alone. Took me like 3 hours.
