Well, it’s that time of year again, Collegiettes. Valentine’s Day is just days away and the choruses of “I’m so single” are ringing through the halls. I dare to ask, though, why is being single such a bad thing? There are so many perks to being your own Valentine that don’t get enough love, so I’ve listed the top five below.

1. Chocolate (duh). No need to wait for someone to buy you sub-par drugstore chocolates, go pick it out yourself… and eat it all.

2. No super awkward DTR-ing. It seems like right around V-day people really start to panic. As the “what are we?” conversations are happening all around us, thank your lucky stars it’s not you asking.

3. You pick the movie. It may seem like an underwhelming perk, but seriously think about it. Not having someone over your shoulder offering their opinion on every movie you scroll past is truly a rom-com filled dream.

4. Wine (for the movie, of course). Does this even need further explanation?

5. No S/O = no problem. Being your own Valentine is nothing to be ashamed of. You are independent, perfect and deserving of all of the chocolate and wine this world has to offer.
