New York City is arguably one of the best places to be no matter what time of year it is, but it takes on a special significance during the holidays. There’s just something about spending the holidays in New York that makes everything special — even when the snow turns everything slushy and brown. So without further ado, here are 5 Reasons NYC is the best holiday spot!

1. The decorations.

There’s just something about the lights and snowflakes and colors that makes everything else seem magical.

2. The hospitality.

New Yorkers get a bad reputation for being cranky and nasty, which may be true during the general year, but around the holidays there’s just something in the air that makes everyone want to be a better person, whether that means buying a coffee for a homeless person on the street or giving a few extra dollars to a someone performing on the subway. It’s kind of hard to resist, and it’s also kind of awesome.

3. So many adorable coffee shops.

Who needs a Starbucks when you have so many cute indie places to check out — plus some of the greatest hot chocolate ever?

4. The shopping.

Manhattan is already a spectacular place to shop, but once you throw in those holiday deals, it’s game over to your bank account!

5. The traditions.

Every town has its own traditions, but things like ice skating in Bryant Park, the holiday village in Union Square, and the tree at Rockerfeller Center are just too incredible to miss. And we’re lucky enough to be a part of them every single year!

Happy Holidays, everyone!
