14 Reasons to Love #14: Danielle Padovano

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

Danielle Padovano is a sweetheart in class, but a killer on the court! A junior at Fordham College at Rose Hill, Danielle is currently studying Communications with a concentration in New Media and an interest in going into the Public Relations field. Aside from playing basketball, Danielle enjoys taking in all of the experiences that New York City has to offer. Her bubbly personality, positive attitude and determination to succeed make Danielle a must-know on campus.

Hometown:

South Brunswick, New Jersey

Year and major:

Junior, Communications

Basketball number and assigned position:

What is your favorite thing about basketball?

My teammates. Our team is like a family. I love having a group of girls who are the sisters I never had.

What are the three best things about being on a team?

Road trips, pre-game locker room jams, knowing my teammates have my back.

What do you like to do when you’re not on the court?

I love heading downtown and exploring. You can often find me sitting in front of the fountain in Washington Square Park, listening to the street performers, and delving into a dark chocolate gelato.

Are you involved in anything else on campus?

I’m the president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. We are the voices of Fordham student athletes on campus and in our community.

If you had to choose between Arthur Ave and the Bronx Zoo…?

Arthur Ave! Fresh cannolis!

What is a surprising fact about you?

Ever since I was little I’ve been interested in fashion and sewing. I took sewing electives throughout middle and high school (even created my own class with my teacher my junior and senior year so I could keep it up). Unfortunately, my sewing machine doesn’t fit in my room in Campbell but it’ll always be a hobby of mine!

What are you most proud of?

My freshman year we made school history and won the Atlantic-10 Tournament. Cutting down the net with my teammates was the most incredible moment. We then went on to play in the NCAA Tournament. It was surreal being in the position of the basketball players I once looked up to when I was little.

Favorite movie:

Silver Linings Playbook.

If you won 10 million dollars, what is the first thing that you would do?

Buy a jet and travel the world!

If you could pick three celebrities to be your entourage, who would you pick?

Alexa Chung, Ellie Goulding, and Lena Dunham. Us > Taylor Swift’s squad.

What advice do you have for your fellow Rams?

I have the same advice for them that I have for myself. For the upperclassmen, it would be to make the most of our time left. I can’t believe I’m already more than halfway through my time at Fordham. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to try, go for it! Time flies, I know especially because most of it is planned out for me through basketball. I don’t want to leave here wishing there was something I should have done. Especially before we have the weight of the real world on our backs!

Be sure to check out Danielle and her teammates at Ram Town on October 16th at the Rose Hill Gym!
