On Wednesday December 6, Dom Hofmann (Vine co-founder) tweeted a simple green image with the famous Vine icon followed by a 2, implying that after the original application Vine was shut down, it will now resurface as Vine2.

The tweet immediately went viral as fans and previous “viners” jumped at the idea of vine coming back and word has spread fast.

Vine was officially created January 24, 2013 as an application in which users can log on and create 6 second videos for the sole purpose of entertainment. Vine was later adapted by twitter by creating a more accessible publication for users. After it’s rise to one of the most downloaded application and top social media outlet, its competitors in the social video applications industry quickly started to innovate by adding features and quickly took the lead- leaving vine with no option but to shut down.

However, Dom Hofmann was not one to call it quits and immediately started to brainstorm on how to revive it. On November 30th, Hofmann tweeted:

Declaring it a project of his own and his number one priority. He then follows it by adding his own visual and purpose:

Several old viners such as LeLe Pons, Jake Paul, David Lopez, Nash Grier, Cameron Dallas, Thomas Sander, Anwar Jibawi and many more have been rumored to continue making vines due to the fame it has brought to them.

Vine 2 is yet to be released but rumors day it’s expected to be released in 2018.
