Up and Coming Artist Claire Rosinkranz On Her Album ‘Just Because’

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

Claire Rosinkranz is not new when it comes to music and songwriting but she is finally getting well-deserved anticipation. With her first album ‘Just Because’ being released, we learn a more personal tone to her, more than just her viral songs such as “Backyard Boy”. I had the opportunity to attend her exclusive press conference to learn not only what inspired this album but also about Claire on a personal level.

Growing up with music

Music is not something of unfamiliarity in Claire’s life. Growing up, her parents were both composers so her footing in music has been due to this. She began songwriting at just 8 years old, beginning that experience by helping her violinist father. He composed lots of jingles for commercials and often times he would turn to Claire to help him create them! It is because of this the two formed a deep bond and even as she paves the way in her own career her father is right alongside her playing as lead guitarist in her band.

Claire described her writing process for this album as “in the moment” writing on her life experiences as time went on. It is why ‘Just Because’ is so personal as it represents her current self, telling a story. You can say it has a sort of coming-of-age feel to it, as she is constantly growing and changing as a person she hopes her music can follow this as well. What is beautiful about this album is how no two songs are the same, showing just how in the moment each song was written; whether chaotic or not.

What to expect from the album

As mentioned, get ready to feel many different things throughout. Each song comes with its own story and inspiration behind it. Claire describes it as just “a little bit of everything,” and shared some tracks in specific that might end up being the most liked from the fan base. When asked which tracks she most personally identifies with, Claire confidently responded with “Banksy” and “Swinging at the Stars,” sharing her personal experiences in love and her mental health.

One piece of advice she’s followed since beginning her music career has been to just slow down and be present. It is because of this that she went through difficulties with her health and mental well-being and songs like “Banksy,” go through how it feels to lose yourself a bit. The album has a sort of crescendo build and that was the vision, to have a sort of ‘shedding skin’ moment as we go through the entirety of the album.

Though she may not be completely new to music or the music industry, her work on this album is just the beginning. I hope to see her in 5-10 years taking us as listeners, along her journey in life. Friendships, love, heartbreaks, despair, and hope all are themes represented in ‘Just Because’ but also in anyone’s life. Claire holds a unique style to her, and with her passion for music combined with her in-the-moment way of living, I cannot wait to see her growth not only as a person but as an artist as she continues on this growing venture.

Isabella is a writer at the Her Campus chapter at FIU. Given her experience in journalism, she covers current events and opinion pieces. Aside from that however, she also likes to write on some of her personal interests such as beauty, fashion, music, and art. As a junior at FIU, she really wanted her college career to encapsulate what she wants to do in the future and she knew that it always involved writing. Achieving for a major in communications with a minor in English, she hopes with this to begin launching her career into the world of journalism! Before Her Campus, her experience with writing began at the Borgen Project, an organization based in Seattle, WA with a mission of fighting global poverty. She reports on advancements and news for countries all over the world battling third world poverty for others to become educated on the issue. When she isn't working or cramming for an exam, Isabella loves to unwind with music and takes a lot of pride in her curated playlists. Listening to basically anything and everything, there isn't a playlist she won't find that cannot match her mood. Folk, country, indie, regaetton, jazz, and so much more are just a few to name!
