A Thank You Letter to All Moms

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

I think as a whole, us girls are pretty guilty when it comes to not telling our moms how much we appreciate them, and hey it’s pretty normal. Our moms are constantly doing stuff for us; it’s pretty hard to acknowledge every little thing. I am one for giving credit where credit is due, and let me tell you moms deserve all the credit. Moms are the only people that will ever love you no matter what; it’s the unconditional love of a mother that makes the world go round and round. A mom will love you at your best and even more at your worst.  So here are just a few things we have to thank our moms for.

Thanks to the moms that yell at us at 2 am when we’re cramming for a test and make us go to sleep so we’re able to function the next morning. Thanks to the moms who text us when we’re out with our friends just to make sure we’re okay. Thanks to the moms who make sure we have enough gas in our car to be able to get to work and school. Thanks to the hot meal made by moms when the only “real” meal we’ve had all week is Chipotle. Thanks to the moms that console us with their hugs when nothing else seems to mend a recently broken heart (and thanks for not bombarding us with a million questions too). Thanks to the moms for going on their one woman mall trips and still managing to get you your favorite MAC lipstick shade. Most importantly, thanks to the moms for loving us even harder when we may not like ourselves for whatever stupid thing we did.

Even after all the eye rolls, the back talk, the attitude on the days we can’t even, our moms still love us and welcome us home with open arms and their love that is beyond compare. Moms can be warm and gentle and at the same time solid as a rock. They keep us in check and never let us stray for what’s most important to them…our happiness. A mother will put your well being before her own and not even bat an eyelash doing it; they literally have sacrificed it all for us! It’s crazy to think like that but pretty true, some moms never even pictured themselves as “moms”, it just sort of happened and they went with it. Because of my mom, I am beyond proud of the woman I have become. My mother’s love, drive, and sacrifices have made me into someone I like and I have my mom to thank for it all. My mom is my all and even though I’m not a little girl anymore I know I’ll always be her baby (and favorite). So here’s to all the moms out there. Thanks for being you!

Love always and forever,
