Productivity Apps To Help Simplify Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

Do you constantly find yourself feeling overwhelmed or stuck unable to focus and complete tasks? Is trouble concentrating something you’ve been experiencing lately? If you answered yes to these questions, you’re not alone and there is certainly a cure to help you. When technology and organization merge you have what is called productivity apps. If you’re anything like me, you will find that being productive helps you stay motivated and helps you feel like you’re being intentional with your time. But when things begin to pile up and you’re not even sure where to start, it’s easy to fall into a state of lethargy, discouragement and burnout. To avoid this from happening, there are luckily many productivity apps that can help you get back on track and get things done. I’ve created a list of the top productivity apps I’ve found most helpful that will surely keep you motivated and will help you start crossing things out on your to-do list again. Here are some top productivity apps you should check out:

1.  Evernote

Evernote is a note-taking app equipped to help keep your work effortlessly organized. It is basically your personalized online notebook with everything stored in one place. With Evernote, you can create typed notes, scan handwritten notes, to-do lists, store photos and images, web pages and links, and even create and store audio notes. And the best part of all is that Evernote gives you the ability to sync your content across devices, so your information is always with you, everywhere you go and you can access everything from any device you use; phone, computer, tablet, Apple watch, etc. This is one of its best features as you’re able to continue working on something such as a school or work project on one device if the device you initially started on died. You can even add Evernote as an extension on your browser or forward emails from your very own Evernote email address. All these features are what set Evernote apart from any note-taking app. It is definitely at the top of my favorite productivity apps.

2.   Dropbox

Dropbox is a popular file-storing tool that helps keep all your documents organized in one place. Similar to Evernote, Dropbox is a cloud storage app that allows you to store everything seamlessly and effortlessly. This is the app you go to, to store all your important and personal documents safely as everything you store is encrypted while it is stored on Dropbox servers. With Dropbox, you can store, synchronize, and share files and folders where you can then access them on any of your devices. It even has a scan camera option where you can scan original documents and convert them into PDF files. There is a reason why Dropbox is so popular and always trending on the App Store, it makes productivity so simple.

Available on: Web, Apple, and Android for free with the option to upgrade to Dropbox Plus with different plans for additional storage.

3.  Mindly

Mindly is a productivity app centered on mind-mapping that allows you to visualize and organize your thoughts and ideas. Mindly is the perfect app for brainstorming when you feel stuck on a certain task or project. With Mindly, you are able to start with a central thought, brainstorm, organize and share your mind maps. If you are a visual person, then this is the app for you. Mindly helps you efficiently concentrate on a task by helping you eliminate all unnecessary mental clutter to focus on your ideas, or plan, prepare or write something. I personally love the simplicity of this app and it makes me feel so productive and creative. I recently began using Mindly whenever I find myself feeling stuck on specific tasks and projects, and I cannot stress enough how helpful it has been in building ideas and completing tasks.

4.  Focus To-Do

Focus To-Do is a productivity and time-management app designed to help you focus on tasks and motivate you to get things done while tracking the time you spent on each task. Four straight hours of work sounds overwhelming, but 25-minute bursts with a quick 5-minute break between each seem a little more manageable, right? Sometimes when we’re focused on completing a project, we tend to ignore our hunger and energy until we end up completely burnt out and can’t function anymore. While being productive is a good thing, overworking yourself is not only unhealthy, but delays the process of completing a project because you end up too exhausted to even complete it that same day. This is when Focus To-Do comes in handy. With Focus To-Do you are able to enhance your time-management, manage and schedule tasks, complete your to-do list, create due dates and reminders to complete certain tasks, estimate your workload to determine how long it would take you to complete projects and tasks, and prioritize and break down your tasks into smaller more attainable ones. Focus To-Do is the perfect app if you’re a busy bee and are under a time crunch with minimal time and a tight schedule. What I love most about this app is that it provides you with a detailed weekly report on your time distribution and the tasks you completed and how long it took you to complete each. Whether you’re a student, busy parent, or full-time employee, Focus To-Do allows you to stay productive by completing tasks in a healthy manageable manner.
