The end of the semester is near and for some of you collegiettes that means graduation is even closer! Feelings of excitement, anxiety and confusion all arise just thinking about graduation day. But what happens after you walk across that stage in your cap and gown? What happens after you turn your tassle to the left? Some graduates go straight to work or straight to grad school. Here are some options for any collegiette looking to be productive after graduation.

Internships

  • Just in case you won’t find a great paying job right off the bat from graduation, paid internships are a great way to get work experience with pay! If you have not had an internship during your undergraduate career, it is almost imperative that you get into one before graduation (depending on your major). Having an internship during undergrad provides you with the chance to network and possibly land a job with that same internship after graduation!

Alternative Breaks

  • If you don’t want to dive into the work force right after graduation, taking an alternative summer break is a great way to stay productive during summer. FIU and other institutions provide alternative break opportunities to those looking to better their community and do charity work all around the world.

Grad School

  • The very thought of more school after undergraduate education may be daunting, but in this day and age receiving a master’s degree gives you a one-up on your competition. Entering grad school requires a lot of money, time and patience. If you do not know the prospects of your attendance in grad school, speak to your academic advisor about suggested degrees, schools and finance options.

Whatever you do after graduation, make sure that you are productive. Use your education and all the experience you gained at FIU to your advantage and use it to better not only yourself but the global community! Congrats Collegiettes!
