You might have heard of the name Niall Horan because of his past involvement in the world’s biggest boyband, One Direction. However, since their hiatus, Horan debuted as a solo artist with his album Flicker on October 20, 2017 through Capitol Records and even went on a world tour. Since his world tour ended, he started working on his sophomore album and just recently released his single No Judgement

The song was released in early February and has since made it onto Spotify’s Pop Rising playlist. In terms of the actual mechanics of the song, it has a beautiful electric guitar riff that has a kind of reggae, Carribean style influence. The production of the song has a summer style synth.

What makes the song so special are the personal lyrics. The song is a story about being yourself with your significant other. It’s paired well with a music video that Horan released showing an old couple participating in extremely bizarre hobbies. These include sticking shrimp in between each other toes, painting their toenails or just simply dancing with their shirts off.

Overall, I believe the song takes an interesting take on pop music. Although Horan is Irish, he utilizes sounds from all over the world to still create a pop song.
