How does it feel to be Miss Relay 2015?

I am very humbled and honored to be this year’s Miss Relay for Life! I am proud to help this amazing cause in any way I can and that I can represent my university, FIU.

Why did you choose to enter the pageant?

I had never participated in a pageant before but after a few of my sorority sisters gave me a little push and told me to give it a chance I decided to take their advice and put myself in the running for the title. Also, I knew what an amazing opportunity it would be to help the cause. I am extremely glad I took their advice!

What was your favorite memory from it?

My favorite memory was definitely hearing my name being called when I won by my sorority sister and Miss Relay for Life 2014. I was extremely nervous, after hearing my name I was so relieved and happy!

Did you attend relay for life? If so, how was it?

Yes I did attend Relay for Life this year. It was very fun and an extremely humbling experience. Walking by all of the luminarias was very moving as well as listening to the accounts of the people who have been through this terrible disease. Relay is such an important event and I am so happy I could be a part of it.

Why do you relay?

I relay for my aunt Erika who was diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 27. She is my hero because she has been a survivor for 15 years now.

What are your plans for the future?

I hope to attend the Masters Program at FIU for Speech and Language Pathology and hopefully one day own my own clinic.

What’s a random fact about you?

Hmm, let me think …. I guess that my birthday is on Christmas Eve and so is my dad’s.
