Michael Meyers & Laurie Strode in Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

He’s back! *cue in Michael Meyers theme song*

Halloween released Friday, October 19th, and it was well worth the cost of a full-price ticket. Following the classic story of Michael pursuing Laurie Strode, we’re set well over 30 years into the future. Michael has been re-apprehended and is currently serving time in a mental institution awaiting a transfer to a different facility that will change the lives of everyone in the familiar town of Haddonfield once more. A team if investigative journalists head on over to the mental institution currently holding Michael and try to get him to talk to them but of course, our strong, but silent villain never utters a word. Soon after that, we find Laurie has had a family and is currently living in a state of fear, and her home looks like a totally tricked out shelter. After the night that she first encountered Michael, she spent the rest of her life in fear, and preparing for the day he would come after her once more.

                                                                                              (Horror Gif)

This movie follows the sad effects her paranoia had on the rest of her family, including her daughter, failed marriages, and now her granddaughter. The film focuses on how violent Michael has become, so fair warning, if you’re not into some pretty messed up ways of killing someone — don’t watch it; it gets a little gruesome. The movie really chooses to focus on Michael trying to find Laurie, and the crazy doctor in charge of Michael now who believes they for some reason need to be reunited in order to find out what causes Michael to want to kill so much. Halloween had everyone in the theater screaming, on the edge of their seats, and truly enjoying this thrilling movie as it progressed further into the plot. It chose to ignore all other Halloween movies after the 1st one, and you’ll definitely understand why after watching. As always, the movie ends with some form of surprise, so let me know what you all think! Is Michael really dead or will a whole new season of killing and fear strike the little town of Haddonfield again? Happy Haunting.
