We all go through rough times whether it is at school, work, or in anything else we do in life. There is always that thought of injury both physical and mental regardless of what you’re doing or at least trying to do. There will always be setbacks whether it’s having to take some time off from school, being laid off, cut from a team, or losing something you’ve worked hard for. As cliché as it sounds life has its ups and downs and for most of us there are more downs than ups. How do we get over these instances or how do we prepare for future instances such as this? There is no way of predicting the future but you can definitely do something during the present. Whether it means not getting a bid in that sorority you wanted to be a part of, or getting that internship you really wanted or maintaining your GPA to a higher standard than before. This doesn’t apply to all of us because there are far more important things happening in our lives and we must have our priorities straight before anything else is done; at least that’s how we think. The truth is no matter what is holding you back there will always be tomorrow. Time keeps going the only person that runs out of time is you. Be sure to use it wisely and with the people you love and care for.

Remember just because things aren’t going as you plan this semester or this year as a whole, doesn’t mean you have to give up now. Do the most you can and make sure to prepare for the future. Making yourself stress over these things and ideals only makes the situation worse because you set goals far too high for yourself in such short amount of time. Be patient but also don’t procrastinate. These two opposites seem to attract at times that are not ideal. Be aware of your capabilities and do what you love and not necessarily what you think will make you the most money or for most people whatever their parents want them to do. This situation varies within people and their situation so don’t take it personal. The point that I am trying to express is that if you’re not happy with what you’re doing then there are other options! Maybe the work you’re doing now isn’t pleasing but it will pay off in the future as long as you don’t give up on yourself and your craft and remember to always make time for things that make you happy and things that can help you take your mind off of things for a bit no matter what it is or how long it lasts. Be patient with yourself and if you’re overwhelmed with things there’s always someone you can talk to. Good luck with the rest of the semester and go Panthers!

A kid raised in Brooklyn, New York home of fashion, art and great culture. The greatest thing to happen to me was living in the city in a sense it was a love/hate relationship because of the area in which I grew up in. Then there was Manhattan filled with all the lights and glamour and things that were on the big screen. Once I moved to Florida it was in a small town called Bradenton which was a huge culture shock because it was the total opposite from what I was used to in every sense ranging from transportation to people. Then there was the care free atmosphere in which shirts and shoes are optional and thong sandals are an every day thing opposed to the city where that is a rare find. Living in Bradenton gave me a different outlook on things and humbled me in a sense. Then moving to Miami for school brought me back to my city roots except with a different view on things and my motivation now is to gain success and not material things as I once dreamed of attaining.
