Kingdom Hearts fans, the wait is finally over! After about 10+ years of waiting for this game to release, and many false hopes that it would be sooner than later, the game was finally released January 29th, 2019! Many of us can remember the very first trailer of the first ever Kingdom Hearts game when it was released back in 2002, and now look back onto this commercial of Kingdom Hearts III with such love and appreciation for how much the game has developed in the story and design. Many fans shared their thoughts all over social media when the game first announced it was getting released along with the trailer of what to expect. It was released During E3 in June of 2018, and the crowd simply went wild. It was a long time coming, and it was finally being seen in person what this supposed final installment of this video game series would bring.

The game seriously upgraded in visual effects and graphics, giving it a more movie-like feel, complete with a whole new set of battle combinations and characters that would absolutely crush all the other games in the collection. New worlds like Frozen’s Arendale, Rapunzel, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, and many more are being adapted to this game to give the gamers that same Disney feel, while adding something new and different than the same worlds they grew used to with the others. Kingdom Hearts III is going to be one for the books, tying every journey, and every character back together for a finale that we can’t even imagine. Most gamers are recommended to follow the timeline that is given in the deluxe version of the game, in order to fully understand the long and complicated story that is Kingdom Hearts, however, it can also be found here (warning, a few spoilers follow ahead if you haven’t played all of the games). The game comes in two versions; the deluxe package and just the game itself (available Digitally or in Hard Copy) for both the PS4 and now the XBOX One. The deluxe package includes a photo book, a one-of-a-kind pin, a steelbook case, as well as, the game. There was also the option of purchasing the Kingdom Hearts PS4 gaming console that came with a copy of the game, but I believe they were limited edition and are currently sold out.

With a brand new introductory song featuring the always talented Utada Hikaru, remixed with DJ Skrillex, and a variety of new worlds and experiences to explore, many fans pre-ordered this game months ahead and have been anticipating the arrival for their beloved games for years and it was finally right around the corner. One Game Stop store got so many pre-orders, that they didn’t have enough games to give out and had to cancel the orders for many people (article can be found here)! The day the games were set to hit the store, my boyfriend and I went to pick up our games at Best Buy; they were fully stocked when we went in, and completely sold out when we were heading out. This game has been in the works for so long, that it only makes sense for fans to ravenously go purchase their copies. I for one can’t wait to see where this game goes, and whether or not the story really does end here, 12 games and 10 years later. As Kairi one said to Sora “Don’t ever forget: wherever you go, I’m always with you”, and this game series truly is always with us.
