How To Start Up a Business Without Money

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

Hello there, future entrepreneur. You have clicked here because you are intrigued with the fact that there might be a possibility for you to start up a business without any money once you graduate college… and it’s quite possible. Do not feel discouraged if you don’t have the money to try and start a business. If you have a great passion for what you want to do as a career, you should do it! Nothing materialistic is impossible to achieve. How to do so will be a journey, that’s for sure. Will it be worth it? You know it.

Business plan

My first instinct would be to work on my business plan. Just like when your teacher would make you brainstorm before writing an essay, same thing with a business idea. Jot down everything you have to do in order to get your business going. It starts with finding a retail space, knowing the law regulations, licenses you have to get, inspection and then comes the creativity of what your company will really consist of. Will the idea of your business be something that attracts people? Will it standout compared to your competitors? Make sure to make a list of reasons why your business will be successful.

Networking

Networking with people is a huge thing in the real world, especially if you don’t have money to start your business. It’s important to meet people who would like to help you and invest in your business. There are many events where investors go, as well as, many resources you can find online to help you get started. Do your research, watch videos of people who have been in your shoes before. Get all the tips you can get!

Determine your challenges

Will it be difficult to compete against your competitors? Will it be hard for a rival to copy your business idea and make it better? These are questions you will have to be ready for when a potential investor asks you when you ask them for funding. You want them to love your ideas to win them over. It’s good to know how you will handle challenges to still produce money.

Offer services

What are you good at? Freelance writing, graphic designs, making cool t-shirts, dog sitting? Start offering what you are good at and that way you can start saving up money without having to pay for a location just yet. Offering services is pretty much initiating starting your own business. Many popular business started off small too.
