How many times have you been rejected or denied your dream job? One too many, right? What if there were tips to land it, and excel at it? You’d say that’s crazy and that landing your dream job would only happen in your dreams. But the question is, why can’t your dreams become a reality?

Landing your dream job is far from easy, but with the right knowledge, getting that job won’t seem so difficult.

Research the company. Knowing a potential employer is a great opportunity to know if you will fit in with the company, become aware of their values and their mission statement. This knowledge will help better prepare you for the interview portion of getting the job.

Tailor your resume to highlight the qualities that will be the most beneficial to the potential employer. If a potential employer is looking for a set of skills, or is knowledgeable in certain systems and formats, and you have those skills, emphasis them on your resume so employers can see that you already have the skills they need to get the job done well. Keep it short, consist and truthful; do not lie on your skill set because it will come back to haunt you later.

Always send a cover letter and references. Show potential employers that you are eager and dedicated to the job.

Once you land the interview:

Be fifteen minutes early and be prepared with extra resumes in hand. Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. It’s Murphy’s law. Make sure to get there with plenty of time to compose and prepare yourself in case you need to. Always bring extra resumes in case there are one or more interviewers for your interview.

Dress to impress. Make sure your outfit is well pressed and ironed and that it showcases your personality while also being appropriate. Make sure it’s not too tight, that you’re not showing too much skin with and thin straps and make sure its not too short. Clothing is a big part of your first impression and says a lot about you to the interviewer.

Brush up on your answers for interview questions. Be prepared with answers to the most common and important questions that will appear during an interview.

Have your knowledge of the company ready to either answer or ask questions. Potential employers love seeing potential employees ask questions about their company and showing their knowledge on the company. So DO YOUR RESEARCH.

And lastly, Be confident in yourself.

Take these tips and you’ll be sure to nail your next job interview and impress with your application.
