The moment we have been waiting for since the first day of the spring semester is almost here: Spring Break! Our brains will finally get some time to regenerate and our skin will finally get that golden tan we’ve been craving. Some of you have already planned out what to do on this highly anticipated week. All I’ve been hearing is Cancun, cruises and Punta Cana. As I envy you and wish the best of luck to you guys and your livers, I’m here to talk to the people that have no plans for Spring Break and are staying here in Miami.

First things first, don’t sweat it! Remember that “we live where other people vacation”. There are a lot of things to do here in Miami during the break. However, if you’re tired of going to the same places over and over again, Miami has a lot of places that you probably never been or heard of. During that week, take the time to visit new places and do new things.

These are some hidden gems Miami has to offer:

1. Stone Age Antiques

If you’re a lover of anything vintage and items with a story behind them, visiting this antique warehouse is a must. It’s packed with hundreds of antiques that you can buy or rent such as, wooden ship wheels, anchors, tribal spears and masks, canons, old fraternity paddles and much more. The nautical theme is what stands out so all you “salt life” people would probably find some decor for your rooms or boats. It’s located at 3236 N.W South River Drive (near the Miami International Airport.)

2. Rouge

For all my couples that couldn’t’t afford to go away for spring break, Rouge is a French and Moroccan restaurant that doesn’t just serve delicious cuisine and a great selection of wines, it also offers live jazz music. Instead of going to the same, old restaurants with your partner, try this romantic and a cozy spot. Did I mention it has fireside patio seating? Rouge is located at 908 71st St, Miami Beach.

3. Greynolds Park

Other than Miami being known for it’s beaches, there are also other outdoorsy places to visit such as, parks. I don’t just mean your typical, childhood parks with swing sets and slides. I mean a park with acres of green land and fun activities. Greynolds Park offers many amenities such as, picnic and recreational areas, a golf course and a 42-foot mound. It also rents out kayaks and paddleboards on the weekends and holidays. The park is located at 17530 W Dixie Hwy, North Miami.

  1. Oleta River State Park

Another interesting park to visit is the Oleta River State Park. Other than picnic and recreational areas, it also offers air conditioned cabins and a campground for visitors to stay over night. It also has off-rode bicycling trials for all of you who want to keep the spring break bod in check. The park is located at 3400 NE 163rd St, North Miami Beach, FL.

  1. El fresco

For all my artsy people, visit this art studio boutique to view some trendy artwork from artist, Daniel “Krave” Fila. The place also offers you to purchase some of the original artwork and creative shirts. If you want to brush up on your art skills, El Fresco also has art classes.  It’s located at 535 SW 12th Ave, Miami, FL.
