The closer we get to graduation, the closer we get to losing our minds.  School seems to get harder and harder and I find myself questioning whether or not I can make it in the real world. This is a very common feeling among upcoming seniors in college. Watching other people juggle so many responsibilities such as raising kids, getting married, doing internships, working at their jobs, AND schoolwork. All of this seems a little unrealistic to me, very few people have everything figured out. The only difference between you and them is that they hide their struggles while the rest of us live openly. A lot of bloggers portray a perfect version of their life and show cute pictures of an iced coffee next to their laptop, but schoolwork is a lot more complicated than that. We have multiple deadlines, papers, presentations, PowerPoints, quizzes, discussions, and so much more. We’re adults but somehow it’s difficult to be taken seriously in this competitive job market.

In order to be a confident and successful woman, we need to believe in ourselves. Comparing ourselves to everybody else is just going to make us insecure about our potential. The best thing to do is to have tunnel vision when it comes to your dreams. Never stop to look at what other people are doing, you will be disappointed in yourself. As your senior year approaches, never lose sight of why you picked your major in the first place. Always remember that your dreams are worth pursuing no matter how stressed you may be. In 10 years we’ll be dreaming of our college days and how simple life was before so many adult responsibilities took over our lives. Some of us could be married with children living somewhere else paying bills. “Oh to be 21 again.”

Stress is temporary and success is a state of mind.
