Homecoming is one of the biggest awaited events of the year. Homecoming literally means to come home, it is that time of the year where FIU’s alumni return to the Panther Territory and, celebrate with the homecoming football game and tailgate.

Throughout the week the homecoming committee puts together a series of events for students and to get them ready for the biggest game of the fall season.

Starting on October 4th at 6:30 pm, Panthermonium will be taking place at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. Panthermonium is an annual concert where big artists come out every year to perform. This year’s line up features Lil’ Yachty, Sheck Wes, Wacka Flocka Flame, and Flipp Dinero.

Panthermonium tickets are on sale for students just for $10 and $30 to members of the community. However, the day of the event they will be on sale for $40 for everyone, students and community members alike.

There isn’t a homecoming without a King and Queen. Throughout the week leading up to homecoming, FIU students compete against each other for the crown. Homecoming court candidates have a chance to run for Duke or Duchess, Prince or Princess, and King or Queen. On October 7th at BBC and the 8th at MMC Homecoming court voting will take place.

Uncaging takes place on October 10th. This is a carnival hosted at the MMC campus for everyone from 5 pm to 9 pm. Different activities include zip-lining, crafting stations, food and other fun activities.

Finally, the biggest events are taking place on Sunday, October 12th: the parade, tailgating and the football game.

Around noon the parade kicks off with a walking brigade, spirit car or floats made by student-led organizations. This is the chance for FIU’s community to showcase their panther pride and to come together.
