On Sunday February 18th, millions of people tuned in to watch The All Star Game. This game is one of my favorites to watch because of course the charities they give back to and the celebrities. This year though, was a very special year when it came to celebrities.
The 19 time nominated Grammy singer Fergie was asked to preform the national anthem right before the game and since then she has been the talk of the internet. She decided to spice up the national anthem with her own rendition of the song that wasn’t very popular to the majority of the viewers. While Fergie was singing, the camera showed the audience reaction. Some celebrities were shown giggling and smiling at the song.
When asked about the performance Fergie announced “ I have always been honored and proud to preform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended one. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
Although the internet hasn’t taken the nicest route when talking about the performance, her ex-husband has. Josh Duhamel appeared on Ellen, and when asked about the performance he stated that she obviously knows it was not her best performance but, “ she is fine, shes as resilient as they come”. He also went on to state that she is crazy talented.
We all know how talented she is and that’s a given. Everyone makes mistakes and she was just trying to spice things up.
Don’t worry Fergie, we still love you!
