Our favorite rebellious pop-queen Miley Cyrus and ex-beau Liam Hemsworth officially announced their separation in mid-August. Relationships of course come and go, but Miley and Liam were many young people’s favorite power couple in the game. Once they called it quits, a huge stir on social media began. More specially, many tweets stated how “love clearly doesn’t exist,” and “love is dead.”
The two have been known for their on and off relationship for many years. After having their intial engagement called off years prior and finally getting married in late December 2018, the public assumed they must be in a great place and finally found their happily ever after that they deserved. Liam announced their separation in an Instagram post displaying a sunset. In the caption, Liam expressed how he wishes Miley “nothing but health and happiness going forward.”

When the two surprisingly but respectfully announced their separation, the response from fans was hectic. Immediately following Liam’s Instagram post addressing the news, rumors were instantly started that Miley supposedly cheated on Liam after images and videos of her and blogger, Kaitlynn Carter, lip-locking in public went viral. Liam immediately shut down the rumors via Twitter stating that Miley did no such thing. About a week later, Miley opened up about the situation through a thread of tweets.

Following this tweet, Miley added to the thread with a spur of scenarios she’s experienced throughout her life such as her party life in her younger life such as: losing a Wal Mart deal at 17 for using a bong, getting kicked off Hotel Transylvania for buying Liam an explicit cake, intimate photos that have surfaced the internet, and even her swinging on a wrecking ball in her past music video completely nude.

Miley expresses how this decision was best for her and how she has grown as a person. She emphasizes how this decision was necessary to live the happy life that she knows she deserves. Miley then points out her imperfections and how she should not be idolized as a “perfect person.” As we can see, Miley is growing and learning, and its completely normal for couples to have their fallouts– even though it can really suck when its our icons that end up having that fallout.

As we all know, Miley’s personal life with the media sure has been an uphill battle, but through these tweets she acknowledges that she’s aware of the things she’s done, and she does not want to spend her life worrying about what others may perceive her to be. The details of her relationship between her and Liam is of course confidential, but who really knows what’s in store for the two?
