Educate Girls, Change The World

While many of us daydream about being out of school for the summer there are millions of girls around the world who dream of taking our place. While we hope for days off and resting our minds, girls around the world are literally dying to do just the opposite. Girls education has become a global issue with only 30% of all girls being enrolled in secondary school. In many countries, less than one third of university students are women. In many parts of the world that are faced with social and economic barriers, parents often decide to invest in their son’s, and not their daughters education. Not only does this reinforce gender stereotypes that a woman’s place is in the home, but it provides girls with less opportunities than the boys they grow up with. In many parts of the world girls are suffering unspeakable and unheard of things, it is up to us to speak for those who can’t by doing what we can.
