It’s officially crunch time shoppers. With Christmas exactly two weeks away, you now have everyone on your shopping list crossed off except for of course your significant other. But no one blames you collegiate. We all know men can be hard to read, and it’s no different when it comes to what gift they want for the holidays. So for the sake of spreading the holiday cheer while avoiding the cliché and useless gifts, here are the Do’s and Don’ts of holiday shopping for him.

Do’s:

  1. The “Sports Junkie” Gift: If he’s a sports fan, you can’t go wrong. Purchase tickets for two to his favorite team’s next home game. Dolphins? December 29th at 1 pm. against the NY Jets. Florida Panthers? They have home games every night (Dec. 28, 29, 30) that weekend. And if you’re a big spender there is of course the two- timing champs, the Miami Heat. But you’re going to have to wait until their first home game after Christmas on January 2nd against Golden State.

  1. The “Bucket List” Gift: These are the things sitting on his bucket list that he hopes to do “one day” but has never taken the time to actually do…until you package it in a bow and let him know today is “one day.” Typically activities such as sky diving, scuba diving, parasailing etc. are some adventurous things a man looks forward to experiencing. Check out Group On for activities at discounted prices in your area.

  1. The “Yummy” Gift: Food and Liquor. Two extremely simple gifts, I know. But how many guys do you know who DON’T love food or liquor? None. You can treat your significant other to a dinner at a special restaurant or even cook if you’re skilled.  You can also get him a cook book or cooking tools if you’re lucky enough to have a man who loves to cook. As for the liquor, self- explanatory, I’m sure he will find good use of it.

Don’ts :

  1. The “Manly Man” Gift: If there is one thing we know about men is that they love knowing that they’re THE MAN.  Wrapping up some power tools or car repair supplies might make your significant other feel empowered but let’s be honest, they’re never actually going to use it.

  1. The “Video Gamer” Gift: I think it is safe to say we have to fight hard enough to get their attention when they’re playing a video game, let’s not add fuel to the fire by giving them a new one to play with.

  1. The “Baby its cold outside” Gift:  We all love the way our man looks cuddled up in a scarf, beanie and a pair of gloves but wake up people this is Miami! He will probably be able to use winter accessories the whole four days in a year that the temperature is actually less than 70 degrees.
