October is not only the month of festivities (like Halloween, Hispanic heritage month, and dia de los muertos) it’s also the month of awareness, not only breast cancer awareness but domestic violence awareness.

Often over looked and over shadowed by Breast cancer awareness (which is a cause near to my heart as I’ve recently lost a family member to this disease), domestic violence affects 1 in 4 women in their lifetime and can go unnoticed until it is too late. Companies like Mary Kay donate a portion of their proceeds to local women’s shelters and as well raise awareness for the cause.

On October 6th 2018, there will be a domestic violence awareness walk from 7 am to 10 am at 16901 NE 19th ave Miami. The event includes family entertainment and refreshments.  You can preregister and donate at www.safespacefoundation.org

Domestic violence can affect anyone and at anytime. One in Four is one too many.
