This week’s “Campus Cutie” is Jorge Vazquez! Being one of the friendliest and sweetest people at FIU, be sure to say hi if you see him around campus! Read below to find out more about him!

Age: 22

Major: Marketing and International Business.

What are some of your involvements?

I was President of FIU’s Rotaract club for 2 years and became a Peer Advisor in 2013.

What was it like becoming a peer advisor?

Being a peer advisor was one of the most profound experiences of my life! Not only did I have the opportunity to meet individuals from all over the world but it was also an honor to have incoming FIU students become one of my “Jalapeños”. (By the way, if any of you are reading this, remember ”We Spicy ;]”.) The most important part about becoming an advisor for myself was being able to be their first resource and friend, which was quite an amazing feeling. Seeing them around campus fully enjoying the college experience brings me so much joy!

How do you make time for everything?

No sleep. Next question.

What do you want to do in the future?

I don’t really know exactly what I want to do with my future at the moment, however I’m simply doing my best in school right now and applying myself to activities that I truly enjoy doing! I definitely see myself working within the entertainment industry because I enjoy film and would love to see where I could go with that. I’m also very passionate about wine and beer and would love to work within a winery or a brewery, possibly even starting my own business. Coincidentally, I just began my own projects in creating my own wine and beer! My best advice for anyone at this age is not to allow a selected “major” dictate what you do with your life and always remember to pursue whatever makes you happy!

What has been your favorite memory at FIU?

Although there are far too many memories to pick only one, I cherish all of the time I have spent in the company of my friends and people that I love here.

What three things would you bring with you on a deserted island?

In all honesty I would bring a phone, jet fuel, and a jet. However, if I were to be stranded forever I would only hope to be with the people that I love!

Natalie is currently a Sophomore at FIU studying Journalism with a Minor in Marketing. As a young girl she always knew she wanted to be a writer and she continues to pursue those dreams at FIU. On her spare time she is very involved on campus in several organizations as well as an internship with FIU's Athletics Department. Her professional goals are to become a staff writer or anchor woman and her life goals are to make a difference in people's lives.
