If you’re anything like me, Disney was your whole childhood growing up! I would always start my days watching House of Mouse and end it by watching reruns of Brandy and Mr. Whiskers. While Netflix always has a great selection of movies and shows, I’ve seemed to watch through all of them during the quarantine. So the avid movie watcher that I am subscribed to Disney + and rediscovered MANY quality movies. Whether you don’t know what to watch or you are wanting to feel nostalgic, here are 3 Disney Channel movies you must rewatch:
Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century (January 23, 1999)
A movie ahead of its time, LITERALLY! Zenon was a girl dealing with present-day teenage girl issues… but in the future! From obsessing with boy bands and having her first love, she was the girl we all related to.
Motorcrossed (February 2, 2001)
This movie was all about breaking gender stereotypes and proving that women can do anything men can. Motorcrossed was based on a set of 15-year-old twins. One boy who was a motocross racer, and a girl who was being pushed by her parents to be apart of “girly” activities. When her brother is injured and her family finds themselves in financial issues, the girl takes over for her brother’s racing to help the family.
Cadet Kelly (March 8, 2002)
This was another one of my favorites growing up as it starred the one and only Hilary Duff. She played a high school girl who’s mom married a man that ran a military boarding school. She went from being all dressed in pink to rocking camo suits! Through trying to adjust to her new normal and dealing with haters, she does her best to prove she can do anything she sets her mind to!
Disney channel movies always leave you with a sense of hope! There is always a valuable lesson to be learned that will either resonate with you, or help you understand someone else’s struggles better. They’re movies that anyone of any age can enjoy and repeat! Even if you didn’t like these movies when you were younger, give them a watch now! You may come to realize how much you love them now that you’re older and wiser.
