5 International Musical Artists You Should Listen to

 

America isn't the only place where great artists are bred. We have seen throughout the years that when it comes to music language barriers are no challenge, with hits such as Luis Fonsi’s 'Despacito' and Psy’s 'Gangnam Style' hitting over 1 billion views on YouTube.  Here is a list of some international artists that deserve recognition for their lit music!

 

Jay Park

Jay Park is a Seattle born and raised, Korean American singer-songwriter, who elevated the Korean hip hop scene. His musical journey began when he first debut into a K-pop boy band named 2PM in 2008.  In 2017, he is now signed by Jay-Z ’s record label, Roc Nation which makes Jay the first Asian American to be signed to Roc Nation.

Zion.T

Zion.T is Korean born and raised singer-songwriter who sings mostly contemporary R&B. He is popular due to his catchy flow and tempo, that anyone can sing along to. His first song released was "Click Me" in 2011 and he had his first chart appearance with his single "Two Melodies" in 2013. His single “Yanghwa BRDG” placed on the Billboard’s International Digital Songs chart. Due to these non-stop achievements his songs have now become a national treasure in Korea.

Skepta

Skepta is a British rapper-songwriter that is popularized in the Grime scene. Skepta is a trendsetter and activist for pop culture in England. Skepta started his rap career as a group member alongside his brother JME, who also is a very talented rapper. He later went on to be a founding member of Boy Better Know. He has worked with well known American artists such as Kanye West.

Taya

 

Taya is a British native vocalist who has freshly stepped into contemporary R&B scene. From a very young age, she admired classic Motown music and pop-R&B artists such as Ashanti and Ciara. She kicked started her singing career by signing with the Atlantic label. In 2015 she made her first debut as a teenager with “Got Me Wondering.”

Moss Kena

Moss Kena is a British singer-songwriter, who made into the spotlight with his breathtaking cover of Kendrick Lamar’s “These Walls.” Moss was able to take a hip hop track into something completely unique. He was able to his own spin to Kendrick’s track with an electronic, upbeat tune. He’s fairly new to the music scene so, we can expect so much more in the future.
