After all those late nights of writing ten paged papers and early mornings of last minute study sessions, we finally get to take a break and relax our brains. Summer is coming and it’s imperative that we treat ourselves because it takes a special kind of warrior to balance classes, work, friendships and Sunday brunches. There are many activities you can do such as, tan by the pool, go to the beach or binge watch that Netflix show you have been putting off. But if you want to do something more adventuress, dip into your savings and go on a trip!

Whether you want to go somewhere tropical or go snowboarding, there are a lot summer destinations for you to choose from. These are just 4 of the hundreds of dream places that should be on your bucket list.

1.  Grenada

Grenada is an island in the southern part of the Caribbean. It has breathtaking and white sandy beaches, beautiful waterfalls, historic sites and eco sites. According to the Travel and Leisure Staff writers, it was sparred from Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria so the island’s beauty remind untouched. This past March, a new luxury hotel was created called the Silversands Hotel. It has different types of suites, from one bedroom suites to penthouses and villas. The hotel also has an 100 meter pool! Grenada is definitely a must if you’re looking for a chill tropical destination without the overwhelming amount of hardcore partying tourists we see in Miami beach.

2. Peloponnese, Greece

When you think about Greece, you probably picture the white houses with blue roofs from “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” (I know I do). However, there are a lot of other Greek Islands worth visiting. Peloponnese it’s like an island but it’s connected to the southern part of the mainland by the Corinth Canal and the Bridge of Rio Antiro. It’s known for it’s archeological sites, beaches and castles. According to the Travel and Leisure website, one of the most iconic places to stay at is called Eumelia Organic Agrotourism Farm and Guest House. In this farm house, you will be able to participate in many hands on activities like picking your own fruits from the farms, wine making and tasting, soap making, maintain biking, hiking and much more! Peloponnese is a destination to get in touch with nature and come back home with knowledge of the European cultures and traditions.

3.  New Orleans

If you want to celebrate the A’s you received this semester or drown you’re sorrows, this upbeat and vibrant city is the destination for you. New Orleans is known for it’s party night life and even more now because the city is celebrating its 300 years!  To join in on the celebration, head to the famous Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. It’s made up of countless bars, burlesque clubs and restaurants. According to New Orleans Official Guide Website, if you want to stay in the heart of the French Quarter, the Royal Sonesta New Orleans Hotel is one of the best! It’s also important to recognize this place, not just by its party scene but also by its rich history with the supernatural. There are many tours provided were you can learn more about the ghost stories about the French Quarter. (All my “The Originals” fan know what I’m talking about).

4. Timberline Lodge, Oregon                                                                                                Photo: https://www.timberlinelodge.com/

If you’re tired of the Miami heat or want to experience Christmas in the Summer, go up north and visit a ski lodge. Timberline Lodge offers summer camps for skiing and snowboarding, has a variety of condo types and you can experience the unforgettable view of Mt. Hood by riding in the Magic Mile Chair Lift. Not to sound cliche but the place is a winter wonderland and sometimes we just need a place to cool down!

Depending on what type of vacation you’re searching for, these are just a few places of the many you can try visiting this summer. Remember, we have like 3 months of summer, that’s enough time to take risks with our bank accounts and make every penny count. So take out that bucket list and start checking off the boxes.
