Whether you have lived in Florida for many years or are looking to travel to Miami soon, you should visit the most popular locations this area has to offer. Be a tourist in your city or catch a plane to beautiful Miami and experience it as much as you can. These 10 locations are some of the most visited in South Florida, and they do not disappoint. From world-class dining and breathtaking views, these locations have everything you need to make the most out of your weekend off from work or your long vacation to paradise.

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Coconut Grove, Florida, is a historical landmark with “ten acres of formal gardens, a mangrove shoreline, and rockland hammock.” The main house is Mediterranean-inspired, and it was built between 1914 and 1922. During that time, Vizcaya was a modern house, with innovative installations, such as heating and ventilation, two elevators, central vacuum-cleaning system, and a partly automated laundry room. Today, weddings, photoshoots workshops, balls, tours, and more are held at Vizcaya. Also, famous movies such as Iron Man 3, Bad Boys II, and Days of Our Lives were filmed at this location.

Families in South Florida can visit Zoo Miami to visit over 3,000 animals from Asia, Australia, and Africa! View 500 species in exhibits that reflect their natural habitats and go on rides, such as Lostman’s River Ride and Safari Tram Tours. Zoo Miami also offers presentations like “Animal Close-up at Critter Connection” and “Wildlife Training Presentation,” and other attractions like the giraffe, camel, rhino, and parrot feedings. Kids can enjoy character meet-and-greets and fun in the sun at designated kid zones. Zoo Miami has something for everyone to enjoy.

As one of the leading conservation and education-based gardens world-wide, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden has programs in more than 20 countries, and it has a “museum, laboratory, learning center, and conservation research facility.” For those planning to visit Fairchild at Miami, prepare to view beautiful flowers, intake sweet smells, and take pictures by a lake-view and nearby islands. People’s visit to Fairchild includes a visit to exotic butterflies and tropical fish, a stream with two acres of waterfalls, and the Gate House museum. There are countless places to visit in this garden. Fairchild also features tropical palm, rare cycads, and tropical fruit trees. Visitors can also see the amphitheater and take photographs at this location! Tram, self-guided, and walking tours are three choices people have when they visit. Also, everyone should watch out for festivals, concerts, shows and sales, art exhibits, and brunches throughout the year!

South Beach is more than just a beach! Bike and Roll Miami is one of the many companies that offers something unique people can do on their time in South Florida. Segway tours are creative ways to view popular places like the Versace Mansion and Ocean Drive or Lincoln Road outdoor mall and Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Choose a tour soon to see as much of Miami as you can in a unique way.

For Floridians and tourists in Miami looking to eat food, shop, and possibly people-watch, there are several locations from which they can choose. Lincoln Road is located in South Beach, and it offers shops, restaurants, bakeries, and cafes. This famous road is pedestrian-friendly, and it is eight blocks long. Aerie, Anthropologie, Express, Guess, Sephora, Urban Outfitters, and many, many more are open to everyone. Over 50 restaurants serving food from Italy, Mexico, the Mediterranean, and Cuba are spread throughout this long road. There are also farmers’ markets every Sunday, antique-markets, and free movies on a 7,000-square-foot projection wall! 

Another location to visit is City Place Doral. This city center hosts events like “Mardi Gras” and “Live Music February.” Stores like Ella Boutique, Walls Art Gallery, and Venetian Nail Spa line the street and restaurants, such as BurgerFi, Cooper’s Hawk, Salsa Fiesta, and Sloan’s Ice Cream are there too. City Place Doral has bowling and a “dinner and a movie” style theater. Whether people are looking for a fun night out with friends, or a place to gather with family, City Place Doral is the right location.

Brickell City Centre is another location in South Beach where both Floridian and tourists can shop at luxurious stores and dine in the best ways. Chanel, Coach, Mac Cosmetics, Pandora, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Zara are only some of the many stores in this four-story center. Visitors also have a wide selection of restaurants from which they can choose, and they can catch a movie at CMX or stay for a local event. Brickell City Centre also has residential towers with city-view terraces and a sophisticated style.

Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is a beautiful theater in Downtown Miami. It hosts 400 events every year, featuring local artists, celebrities, and shows, such as Jim Carrey, Hamilton, and Miami City Ballet. The much anticipated Hamilton cast will perform from February 18 to March 15. This performing arts center also has what they call Summer Shorts, which is a Miami “90-minute program of comedies, dramas, and mini-musicals.”

Deering Estate in South Dade is a historical site where visitors can explore several homes, participate in a guided trail tour, and hike or they can reserve the estate for family events, corporate groups, and community events. Activities at the Deering Estate include the “Moonlight Kayak Tour,” Marine Conservation classes, campfires, and concerts. There are events nearly every week, which allow people to participate in unique ways that are hard to find in other areas of Miami.

Located in Downtown Miami’s Museum Park, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science offers a variety of ways people can entertain themselves while learning about science and innovation. Some of their goals are for people who visit this museum to develop ideas about technology and environmental conservation, be inspired, and interact with science in creative ways. Visitors can experience shows, exhibitions, a planetarium, and an aquarium system too. The museum hosts several events throughout the months, such as “Kids Night at the Museum” and “Laser Evenings,” as well as speaker events and women in engineering events.
