Why We Should All Stan Lizzo

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIT chapter.

I just took a DNA test turns out you should all stan Lizzo. Cuz I Love You was the album of the summer with a plethora of hits. From Truth Hurts to Juice, every song sung by Lizzo is a hit. Although her album Coconut Oil featuring Good as Hell was released in 2016, most people have not heard about Lizzo until this year. Thankfully, her music has been broadcasted across all mediums including being featured in movies and commercials, allowing for major exposure. As of this week, Truth Hurts hit Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Lizzo embodies an icon in every way, especially in this day and age. She promotes body positivity and feminism. Her actions, presensce, and lyrics showcase to the world how to love oneself and to live a carefree life. On top of all that, she is beyond talented and puts on the greatest performances. For example, for her 2019 VMA performance she sang her song Good as Hell where she expressed that everyone should feel “Good as Hell”. During this performance, she used plus sized models to promote body positivity. And if that is not enough, she fully slayed her red carpet appearance in a Moschino gown and had multiple outfit changes.

If this article did not make you fall in love (or refall in love)  with Lizzo yet, you should just give her music a listen. Despite how amazing she is, her music speaks volumes on their own. They are full of beautiful messages and just great tunes overall. Finally, I will leave you with some of the greatest Lizzo lyrics that will inspire you to go to Spotify or Apple Music right away.
