How Skincare by Hyram Changed My Skin for the Better

In the midst of being quarantined this past semester in my childhood home on Long Island, I spent a fair amount of time on YouTube and TikTok. Like everyone else, I discovered Skincare by Hyram. I listened to him preach about the evils of fragrance in skincare and how sunscreen should be in everyone's routine for endless hours. His signature blue shirts and his easy and gentle personality make it hard NOT to want to listen to everything he says, but then I took his advice and let me just say, my world has changed.

Once I realized that all his advice made perfect sense, I started paying extreme attention. Using his YouTube videos and TikToks, I created a routine that would hopefully change my skin for the better, and I definitely succeeded. I want to first be clear that this routine is what works for my skin type specifically, however on his channel he gives advice and product recommendations for every skin type, and makes it extremely easy to figure out what would work best for you. Below are the products that I have purchased in the last few months based on his advice that are now a permanent part of my skincare regimen.

1. Simple Micellar Cleansing Water

As someone who is ashamed to say I religiously used makeup wipes in my teens, this product is a game changer. For anyone who hasn't already made the switch, let me fill you in: micellar water is much more gentle on your skin and is highly effective at removing makeup, oil and dirt from your pores. I especially love that this product contains no alcohol and is Vegan and cruelty free!

2. CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

My skin feels amazing after using this cleanser. I get that fresh, clean feeling without my skin feeling stripped or dry and tight. It is perfect for normal or slightly oily skin. The gel texture feels great on my skin and it's formulated with Niacinamide, which I love!

3. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum

This is my absolute favorite product I have ever used. I make sure to buy a new bottle when I am halfway done with the old one, just so I never have to go without! This stuff is great for any skin type. It makes my skin look brighter, reduces redness and acne scars, fights against environmental damage and helps my skin stay hydrated. I use this twice a day, before applying moisturizer. It is also vegan and cruelty-free.

4. The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

This solution is an absolute game changer. It is an amazing chemical exfoliant that works to make your skin tone brighter and more even. It fights against blemishes and even fine lines over time. It is also vegan and cruelty-free! If you are going to use this product you do have to be careful to only use it exactly how it is intended. It is meant to be used for only 10 minutes or less, only twice a week. Make sure not to use it in the few days before excessive sun exposure and do not use it on peeling or broken skin. Finally, do not use it with other direct acids or retinoids.

5. The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

I have always struggled to find moisturizers that worked well for my skin. After trying this one I was hooked. It feels so smooth on the skin without being too thick or heavy. I can feel instant hydration in my skin after using this. I apply it morning and night at the end of my skincare routine. It feels so gentle and light and does not cause any excess oil on my face. Like the other Ordinary products, it is vegan and cruelty-free!

I have struggled with acne and other skin issues my whole life. These past few months my skin has looked and felt better than it has in years. I can not praise Skincare by Hyram enough for how much his advice has worked for me. He definitely lives up to all the recent hype!
