Hot Chocolate Lovers, You’ll Want To Stick Around For This One

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIT chapter.

As a hot chocolate fanatic myself, when I discovered the hot chocolate bomb trend, I was beyond excited. This trend is both the perfect friends and family project, as well as the perfect gift for the upcoming holidays. Encapsulated in the hardened chocolate of your choice, these bombs are filled with hot chocolate powder, marshmallows, etc. Once they’re placed into warm milk, they open up on their own, revealing everything inside for you to enjoy.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Chocolate

  • Half circle baking mold (silicone ones seem to work very well)

  • Hot cocoa mix
  • Marshmallows
  •  Any other toppings you’d like to put inside (sprinkles, etc.)

Here’s how to make them:

  1. Take chocolate melts (or just chocolate) of your choosing, place it into a bowl and use your microwave to melt it.

  2. Place the melted chocolate into your half circle baking mold, and place it into the freezer so the chocolate can harden.

  3. After 5-10 minutes, take the baking mold out of the freezer and remove the chocolate from the molds.

  4. Fill half of the molds with the hot cocoa powder, marshmallows, and any other toppings.

  5. Take an empty chocolate mold and place it back into the microwave, just so the edges are melted. Once that’s done, place the slightly warm half and gently press it onto the filled mold, creating a ball.

  6. When that’s secure, have some fun and decorate the outside with drizzled on chocolate caramel, and anything else you can think of.

  7. Enjoy!
