The 2012 FAMU Homecoming celebration has officially begun! Homecoming week kicked off on Saturday, Nov. 3 with the 5K Wellness Run as Rattlers were searching for a relaxing and entertaining environment. The Homecoming Comedy and Talent Show took place on Monday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. and was filled with nothing less than laughter and stomach pains.

Tatiana Siplin, third year health science occupation and wellness student from Ft. Pierce, Fla thought the Comedy and Talent show was exciting. “I had a lot of fun. The crowd interaction was great! The comedy portion was hilarious and the talent was pretty good.”

The Comedy & Talent Show featured numerous students on campus with performances including singing, dancing and rap routines. The comedy show also included performances by Roy Wood and Marvin Dixon, both have been featured on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam.

Gary Owen, actor from the book based movie, Think Like a Man, was the headliner of the Comedy Show. Think Like a Man was produced by FAMU alumnus, Will Packer.

Jonathon Owens, third year animal science student was very pleased with Gary Owens performance, “the comedy show was really good this year, we had a great headliner. The crowd was very in tuned with his show.” Owens was also a guest judge for the talent portion of the show.

The faculty chair of the Comedy and Talent Show, Brandon Hill, works in the Office of Student Activities. Hill has been involved with the event for a few years and believes this was one of the best. “I was very pleased with the student attendance. The comedy show is always a well attended event and this year proved no different. The show went very well. I always gauge myself on if the students come and if they stay the entire show, and they did. The student talent was great and the comedians brought the funniness.”
