This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Falmouth chapter.

It’s almost time for The Masked Ball!!

For those of you who have never heard of The Masked Ball, it’s a two day concert (that’s right, it’s not a festival, it’s a concert; a ball) located on top of a cliff in the stunning harbour town of Porthleven, right here in Cornwall.

The main event takes place from 6pm on Saturday 3 May right through to 6am on Sunday 4 May, followed by a chilled session on the Sunday.

It’s a biannual event, with one ball happening in May, and the other happening at Halloween…yes that’s right…possibly the best Halloween party ever!

The event this May is looking like it’s one not to be missed! Their aim is to give you the best 12 hours of 2014…and with the lineup, it looks like they could do just that!

The ball has internationally renowned DJs, along with many top DJs from Cornwall, and this year the headliner is the amazing Groove Armada, with a DJ set!

Horse Meat Disco, Shit Robot and Cuban Brothers are a few of the other awesome acts playing.

Check out the lineup:

Tickets are only £45 (plus £3.50 booking fee), which includes the fee for camping, so what are you waiting for!?

This is truly the perfect way to kick start your summer and get yourself into the festival mood.

For those of you who don’t like the thought of sleeping in a tent, there are various VIP options available, so there’s nothing stopping you from being part of this amazing event.

The Masked Ball is one of the most popular events right here in Cornwall every year, and with people going back year after year, it shows that it is truly a fantastic event.

Internationally renowned DJ, Brandon Block said: “Without a doubt the best small festival I’ve been to…and I’ve been to a lot.”

With amazing music and scenery, what more could you ask for? It’s even a visual feast inside the arenas.

Everyone makes an effort with their outfits; not just the entertainers, so start thinking about how awesome you can make yourself look now!

Not only is this a fantastic event to attend, but the ball raises money for various local charities, with their combined donations totalling £10,000 to date!

Some of the charities are:

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) – an environmental charity protecting the UK’s oceans, waves and beaches – based in St Agnes, Cornwall.

PANTS – a registered charity raising awareness of cancers in the pants area – based in our very own Falmouth.

The ball also supports The Porthleven Christmas lights fund and St Kevern Christmas lights, and they recently raised £2,000 for local schools!

So what are you waiting for? Go get your tickets now!

We will see you there.
