Campus Cutie: Emma Gibbs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Falmouth chapter.

Name: Emma Gibbs

Relationship Status: Single

Age: 21

Course: English with Creative Writing

This week we spoke to Emma Gibbs, our very own events writer, who has been consistently writing for us since we started the Falmouth chapter. She is now in her third year of university, so we thought it would be appropriate to find out a little more about one of best correspondents!

What made you want to move to Falmouth?

Falmouth is just the best! It has beaches. I come from the Midlands which is one of the furthest places from the sea in Britain, so this was a welcome change. Also I just love how all of Falmouth’s students are creative.

Favourite memory while being in Falmouth?

Oh this is a tough question! I think in general I love the course I’m on and the people I study with. Last year I had the opportunity to interview and meet one of my favourite children authors, Jill Murphy, which was pretty special – if I had to pick a favourite memory it would probably be that.

Favourite seat in Falmouth?

Prince of Wales Pier is always nice – especially when the busker is playing his music. But when it’s cold I’ll settle for Cafe Nero with a warm cup of tea. In the summer I also love to go the beach to read books.

Favourite food?

I love aubergine parmigiana! (In case you don’t know what this is, it’s a popular dish in America made of aubergine, melted cheeses and spaghetti in a tomato sauce).

What would be your ideal date?

Nothing complicated – just drinks at my favourite bar or day trip to the beach.

What are your plans for the future?

At the moment I’m focusing on surviving third year, but I’ve got my sights set on a career in journalism – preferably print journalism for a newspaper or magazine. And it might be nice to get a novel published too! As long as I get to write for a living I’ll be happy.

Thank you so much for writing for us over the last two years Emma, we appreciate all you’ve done for the chapter so far and wish you the best with your future success!

My name is Laura Sherlock and I am the co-editor for Falmouth's chapter of Hercampus. I am currently in my third year of university studying English.
