It’s no secret that tons of makeup brands seldom have a variety of foundation and concealer shades for medium and dark skin leaving those of us with deeper complexions looking discoloured and ashy.Most of these brands have loads of shades that are catered to fairer skin and makeup lovers with medium skin and darker are often left without many shade options.
But don’t fret my deep skinned lovlies! I’ve been wearing makeup for a long time now and I’ve complied a list of makeup brands I have tried and tested that have diverse shade ranges for us deeper skinned gals (and guys).
1. Black Opal
Black Opal is dedicated to offering blushes, countour pallettes, highlighters, bronzers, conclears and foundation shades to women with deeper skin complexions. Their foundation shade includes medium skin shades to deep dark skin shades with understones varying from warm, neutral, and cool. Their makeup products are very affordable with it’s most expesnive items costing no more than $12 (approximately £10). You can view the entire range of their products here.
2. Anastasia Beverly Hills
This brand gained its popularity from their high quality eyebrow products, like their brow wiz and dipbrow pomade, but recently they’ve come out with a range of stick foundation. These foundations offer full coverage and can even be used as a concealer; it comes in 30 different shades and accomodates most skin tones and their undertones. Their stick foundation comes at $25 a pop (approximately £20) but is well worth the money if you have difficulty finding a foundation shade in your colour in a medium to heavy coverage foundation. 3. Make Up Forever (MUFE)
Although this brand is a bit more luxourisous and pricey their ultra HD foundation is worth every penny; this foundation comes in 40 shades that vary from ‘alabaster’ to ‘dark brown’. This foundation smooths out the skin and perfectly blurs out every pore and imperfection. It’s priced at $43 (around £35) but a little goes a long way with it’s medium but buildable coverage. They also offer a ton of concealers, powders, eyeliners, and mascara on their website.
4. Too Faced
Too Faced is known for their large array of face highlighters, blushes, and bronzers; these products come in cute heart shaped packaging and make the process of applying makeup even more fun!
Too Faced also offers a full coverage but natural looking foundation: the ‘Born This Way’ foundation. It has has gained popularity over the past couple of years because of of its non-drying and non-cakey formula and you can even get away with wearing two layers. This foundation is priced at $35(£29) and there are currently 18 different shades of foundation ranging from very fair to deep dark with varying undertones. Too Faced also offers different shades of concealer and powders.
