This Year Fairfield University has the Largest & Strongest Applicants in History!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Fairfield University’s Office of Undergraduate Admission reports that Fairfield received the largest application pool in the university’s 78-year history, with students from 68 countries and 42 states. There were 12,551 applications for the Class of 2024, an increase of 2.5% from the Class of 2023.  The average GPA and SAT scores have also risen since the Class of 2020.

The Class of 2024’s top five majors include nursing, biology, psychology, finance, and marketing.

“We are delighted by the size, academic quality, and geographic diversity of this year’s applicant pool,” said Corry Unis, vice president for enrollment management.

“The strong growth in applications is a sign of the cumulative effect of all of the positive momentum on campus. The admission team is looking forward to shaping and selecting the next class of Stags,” Unis continued.

Fairfield University is currently ranked #1 for Best Undergraduate Teaching in Regional Universities North and #3 in Regional Universities North in the U.S. News Report 2020 edition of Best Colleges. It has over forty undergraduate majors and five colleges, including the Dolan School of Business, the School of Engineering, and the College of Arts and Sciences, the Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies and the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions.

Admitted applicants can attend a special Class of 2024 information session and campus tour held on Mondays and Fridays at 11:45 a.m. from February 21 through May 1, 2020.

They can also take part in the Shadow a Stag program, where they can learn about life at Fairfield from a current student, who will take them to class, introduce them to faculty, and answer their questions over lunch. The Shadow a Stag program starts Thursday, February 20 and runs through Tuesday, April 28.

The University’s Fairfield in Focus admitted student visit days are held on April 5 and April 18, and are crucial for students to understand more about their future at Fairfield.

Whether you’re a graduating senior or an incoming stag, the news that Fairfield University is becoming more diverse and attracting high-achieving students is impressive!
