Winter Trends To Leave BEHIND With The Cold

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

FINALLY spring has “sprung” and we are beginning to part ways with the dreary winter weather. Spring is the time to turn a new leaf; whether you’re spring-cleaning, gaining a brighter perspective, or transitioning your wardrobe, this season comes with some exciting change.

Collegiettes tend to hop on the spring fashion bandwagon as soon as humanly possible (I am guilty myself, having worn Jack Rogers flip-flops already…). We are eager to put on some lighter wardrobe and embrace the warm sun. Say bon voyage to these winter trends and say hello to these fantastic spring essentials!

Goodbye…

FUR VESTS…These may be a winter staple piece but for spring, replace your fur for a vibrant colored vest. Underneath, wear a light cotton tee, chambray, button down or light sweater. Blazers are another great swap! Worn with cuffed colored/solid jeans, V-neck, scarf and flats you can’t go wrong!

BLACK…Embrace the gorgeous color surrounding us by breaking out more colored pieces! Undoubtedly, black is a great neutral, but colors such as yellow, pink and light blue not only coincide with the season, but will brighten your mood too. Vibrant white is also a transitional color, which can be incorporated in accessories and nails!

DARK MAKEUP…Sorbet and iced neutral colored lipsticks, eye shadows and blush are a great way to move from cool to warm instantly.

SOLID COLORS…Spring is the time for PRINTS. Yes- floral is huge right now (that’s the obvious) but so are stripes, polka dots and animal prints. Incorporate these prints by wearing a great scarf or tee.

BOOTS…Admittedly, it was difficult parting with my winter boots, HOWEVER, spring footwear is much more fun. White pumps, sneakers (yes, sneakers!), ballet flats, oxfords, wedges and sandals are all classic options.
