Why We Are ~So Excited~ for the “thank u, next” Music Video

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

We have been jamming out to Ariana Grande’s newest single, “thank u, next” ever since she released it a few weeks ago following her breakup with Pete Davidson.  Now, we are learning more details about the highly anticipated music video through her Instagram and there are ~so many~ reasons why we are pumped! Here are just a few:

  1. Ariana is Regina George

Our girl is swapping her trademark high ponytail for Regina’s signature blonde do. Naturally, we are so ready to see Ariana play our favorite mean girl. Isn’t that so ~fetch~?

  1. It has the OG Aaron Samuels

Yes, you read that right! Jonathan Bennett is reprising his role as Aaron Samuels. Maybe Ariana had the chance to ask him what day it is…

  1. Legally Blonde Vibes

Ari was seen on Insta posing with Jennifer Coolidge, who starred in Legally Blonde as Paulette. She also shared a picture of her exercising while using an orange laptop with the caption: “Whoever said orange is the new pink was seriously disturbed!” We are so ready to see Ariana play the most iconic Harvard Law student.

  1. All the ‘00s Feels

In addition to Mean Girls and Legally Blonde, Ariana has posted pictures showing that this 4-part music video will also feature scenes from Bring It On! and 13 Going On 30. This great song is going to get even better by bringing back all of the nostalgia from the early 2000’s.

  1. Recruitment time!

Ari really went all out for this video… and by all out we mean that she recruited several of her famous friends to be in the video. Victorious cast stars Daniella Monet and Liz Gilles will star alongside her during the Bring It On! and Mean Girls sections. She even brought in a very pregnant Colleen Ballinger, AKA Miranda Sings, to be featured in the video as well. Snaps for all of Ari’s famous friends!

We cannot wait for this musical ~experience~. The music video will be dropping Friday and Ari has released the trailer that you can watch here. Thank u, next.
