Why it’s Okay to Dress Down Once in Awhile

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

It’s fun to dress in nice outfits, do our hair and makeup, and slide on our cutest pair of shoes, but let’s be honest ladies, we all like to dress down occasionally. It’s a lot of work to look as good as we do! It’s so nice to just slip into a pair of sweatpants and lounge around. A lot of the time we’re pressured to look good, but the trick is to just wear what you feel like wearing. Don’t worry about what other people think. Everyone has that desire to dress down once in a while and just be comfortable, even if it means not looking your best.

College is the best time to take advantage of being able to dress down. You can sleep in, not have to worry about making time in the morning to get ready, and just go to your classes and be comfortable. Once you are out of college, depending on what kind of work you end up doing, you may not be able to dress down as much as you do at college, so definitely take advantage of those comfy days.

Of course, wearing sweats or other comfy clothes out in public isn’t for everyone, but you don’t have to look like a complete mess when you opt for a comfy look. Some baggy sweatpants and your comfiest sweatshirt are a great way to go, but if you are more of a stylish kind of person and still want to dress down, there are plenty of options for you. Some leggings, a cute oversized sweater, and moccasins can make for a super cute and comfy outfit!

Overall, everyone needs to have a day where they don’t worry about their appearance as much and just dress down. There’s nothing wrong with wanting a little more comfort in our lives. So grab those sweatpants and oversized sweaters, and make the best of the remaining cold weather!
