We all listen to certain songs when we are happy, sad, excited, love-struck on purpose to enhance those feelings, but Adele’s new song puts us in tune with feelings that we didn’t even know we had. “Hello”, her new single, which was released on Friday October 23, 2015, makes us miss people, things, and events that have happened in the past. She appeals to some seriously deep down feelings that we didn’t even know were there. But when we listen to the song, we start to miss the boyfriend we loved, the relative we lost, and even the stranger we passed on the street once in 2003.

How does she do that? Well…she says the right words for sure. By saying “hello” so many times, it’s like she’s calling to someone who is not responding and never will. And then by positioning herself “on the outside” she shows distance, separation, and loss. And the worst part is regret. Adele, girl, you really know how to make us cry. Then we start to think about all the mistakes we wish we could change , but there is no going back. Basically after listening to “Hello” waaay too many times, all I have to say is that #thefeels are real- and deep.

And the music video makes it even worse! I feel you Adele, I really feel you…
