For us seniors, even a slight whisper of the g-word is forbidden. With each passing month, week, day and hour, we become increasingly aware of our imminent departure from the place we’ve called home for the past four years. What these four years have offered, however, has been a myriad of life-altering experiences that have shaped our souls. So before walking down that aisle, make sure you’ve crossed everything off your Fairfield Bucket List.
1. Take a long walk around campus.
It’s no secret that we have the most beautiful campus. From our Insta-worthy Bellarmine Mansion snapshots to the beautifully grassy quad, every inch of this place is bursting with beauty. Just take 20 minutes, leave your phone behind, and take in every sight.
2. Ride the Stag
Yes, it’s technically a freshman tradition. If you’re a sophomore, junior or senior who still hasn’t rode the Stag, don’t fret- you still have time! Trust me when I say that standing in front of the Stag trying to figure out how you’re going to get up on that giant statue is much more fun than it seems. Plus, everyone needs the epic Stag pic!
3. Go to an Open Visions Forum
The Quick Center is constantly hosting interesting speakers from all different areas of expertise. Last year, the Quick Center hosted a night with Jenna Bush Hager and Alexandra Pelosi. Two years ago, they brought in America Ferrara. Later this month, Tim Gunn is speaking. Take a couple of hours one weekday night and attend one. There is no way you’ll regret it!
4. Become involved on Campus
Each semester COSO puts together a club fair, where every on-campus club gets the opportunity to set up a table. Make sure that you join a club or two that might interest you. Not only is it a great way to get involved in campus, but you just might find your best friends there too! If there isn’t a club that catches your interest, try creating one! I guarantee there are other students around campus that share your same interests.
5. Give back to the community
We are so fortunate to attend such an incredible school; it is our duty to volunteer our time with those less fortunate. There are many opportunities to volunteer in our surrounding community. You can join a community service club, inquire for volunteer opportunities in Campus Ministry or just take the initiative to volunteer somewhere on your own.
6. Have a beach day
The beautiful sound is less than 3 miles away. Need I say more?
The weather is a little too cold to go swimming, but you can still have a nice lunch with your friends one afternoon. If you don’t have a car, the beach is about a 20-minute walk from the bookstore bus stop.
Be sure you fulfill your own Fairfield bucket list, so you have zero regrets when you walk down that aisle!
