Like diets and high heels, winter seems better in theory.
It’s impossible to deny the glittering and beautiful snow-covered campus, and on Instagram, this seasonal gift is heavily exploited. During these colder months, it is almost impossible to scroll through Instagram without stumbling upon some winter-themed pic. However, in reality, winter is NOT what it seems like on Instagram. Need proof? Take a look below.
Instagram: Winter selfies may look warm and cozy, all bundled up in a super cute winter jacket with mittens and a hat.
Reality: It’s actually freezing out, and the cold goes right through your “cute” winter gear. There is nothing actually warm and cozy about winter.
Instagram: Look at us having fun playing in the snow! Nothing like a snow day! Nothing but snowball fights, building snowmen, and drinking hot chocolate!
Reality: Playing in the snow? It’s only fun until you realize you’re soaked… I think I’ll go back to watching Netflix.
Instagram: Just fallen snow is beautiful, fresh and pure white, basically equal to perfection.
Reality: Snow may look beautiful when it first falls, but it quickly turns into a slushy, off-white mess. And it is most definitely not fun to drive in.
Instagram: Snow falling gently from the sky. What a winter wonderland!
Reality: Watching every step you take because at any second you can (and will most likely) slip and fall. It’s hard to even see with the snowflakes blowing into your eyes as you try to cover your hair so you don’t get soaked.
Instagram: Look at us having a blast ice-skating! Total #couplesgoals.
Reality: Your feet hurt like crazy and you feel the blisters coming on from the cheap rental skates. You’ve fallen about a million times and have to hold onto the wall the entire time. Let’s not forget how your date ditched you since he can actually skate.
Don’t be fooled, things aren’t always as they look on social media. Sooo when’s spring break?
