What It’s Really Like Going From An All Girls School To College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Transitioning from high school to college is hard. Going from an all-girls high school to college is even harder. Here’s why:

1. You wake up the morning of your first day of class and realize that without your trusty plaid skirt, you have no idea what to wear.

2. You also realize that not shaving your legs or brushing your hair is frowned upon, and you hate it. Where are your navy knee-high socks when you need them?

3. There are boys in your classes…boys! And it just feels…weird.

4. Some of your new friends don’t understand your sense of humor.

5. It’s no longer socially acceptable to eat five cupcakes in one sitting.

6. And there is an alarming low amount of free food available for your enjoyment.

7. Halloween comes around and people want to be you…And ask to borrow your old uniform.

8. You can no longer wear big bows in your hair without being stared at.

9. No one abides by the ‘leave room for the holy spirit’ rule at college parties.

10. College is very different than high school was, but you still have your guy-free memories and a lot of fun times to look forward to at college! #blessed.
