Ways to Avoid an All Black Winter Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Winter is coming and we all know what that means; it’s time to break out our all black wardrobe. If you’re like me, you wear black because it goes with everything. Black is also slimming and instantly makes any look more put together. But an all black wardrobe can be monotonous, and with the holidays coming, there will be plenty of sales and deals to upgrade your wardrobe from bland to bold. Try avoiding an all black winter wardrobe with these five accessories.

1.Statement Scarf
Add some oomph to your outfit with a statement scarf. A neutral or darker color, like burgundy, will give a wintry feel.

2. Colorful Shoes

A girl can never have enough shoes. Splurge on a new colorful pair to improve up your winter wardrobe. For going out, or a date night, try pairing red heels with a black dress. For casual wear, try a boot in navy or burgundy. Both of these colors go with a lot of outfit options.

3. A Bold Coat
Black is a neutral that goes with everything but don’t play it safe when it comes to the color of your winter coat. Try adding some color with a green or red coat instead. You’ll be sure to turn heads.

4. Patterned or Colored Leggings
Leggings are super comfy and perfect with big sweaters. Try something different this winter and buy patterned or colored leggings. Solid colors such as navy, grey, or green go with almost anything. If you’re daring, go with a patterned pair. You can still match either printed or solid leggings with a black or neutral colored sweater!
