Paris remains in a state of emergency after events leading up to the deaths of at least 129 people, and the injury of 325 more, 99 of these being critical. The terrorism attack locations include a soccer stadium that was housing a match between France and Germany, The Bataclan, a concert hall, and a restaurant. The violence and horror has sparked several other violent events including anti- ISIS air strikes in Syria and police raids.
The French government is extending their state of emergency for the next three months and planning changed to the constitution, while also intensifying their military campaign against ISIS in Syria. Last night, French forces fought back by attacking IS’ stronghold in Syria by dropping 20 bombs over targeting sites. Today is the first official time that ISIS has formally declared responsibility for the attacks in Paris. More importantly perhaps is the announcement from the French President that the attacks were a direct act of war and has placed blame on the Islamic State.
People in over 200 countries are spreading their concerns and prayers for the people of Paris. Jean Julien’s famous drawing has been circulating on social media, becoming a symbol of support. We must all band together and PRAY FOR PARIS!
