Students Report Satisfied With The Library Café

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

The Library Café, located at the entrance of the library, started “proudly serving” Starbucks Coffee at the start of the fall 2014 semester.  Although Starbucks coffee is being served, the location is not a part of the global franchise according to Jimmy Vazquez, an employee at the Library Café. As a result, they do not accept gift cards or any sort of reward cards. Vazquez said the new coffee hot spot is booming compared to the coffee shop that once stood at this location.  He also says that management is pleased, but they are still in process of getting into the routine of things.

Sam Rice ‘18 has been to the Library Café a handful of times this semester.  He usually stops by for a Grande cup of coffee when he’s studying for a test. “I can’t complain, they haven’t messed anything up”, says Rice, “I usually get iced coffee and iced tea, and I just tried the sweetener and its going great!”

Sandy Ambalangodage ‘16 is also a dedicated customer. “I come like every Friday,” says Ambalangodage, “It’s been good, they don’t have all the Starbucks options, but what they do have is pretty good.” She says that the taste and quality isn’t the signature Starbucks she’s used to, but it’s getting the job done. Ambalangodage suggests that the Starbucks in town is more authentic, and recommends going there if you’re looking for the signature taste.

Vazquez concludes by saying that preparing beverages doesn’t take long. “It probably takes a minute to prepare a drink such as a caramel macchiato or ice teas.”  He also continued by saying that the location usually has about two to three people working at a time. If you are in need of a speedy drink on the go stop by the Library Cafe, they will gladly help you out, and quickly!
